Ref. 2255 - from the twentieth century, this suite of 7 glasses on foot with touraine wine in crystalline glass in good condition. No cracks or shines. Tulip-shaped chalice bearing the motto and portrait of the humanist, monk, doctor and writer françois rabelais (1483 or 1494 - 1543) "always drink you will never die". Quote taken up by the brotherhood of wines of chinon. He wrote these words in his novel gargantua (1542): I wet, I moisten, I boy, and all for fear of dying always drink, you will never die. Like this brotherhood it meant "drink from the source of knowledge". All the many photos complete this detailed description. Very neat expedition and followed in relay point when possible.
