Pair of Matteo Grassi armchairs, 1970

Two Leather and Chrome-Plated Metal Armchairs. Matteo Grassi, 1970. This classic set of two MG15 cantilever chairs in black saddle leather is in excellent condition. The thick leather shows minimal signs of wear, and the chrome rods are in very good condition. The armrests are undamaged, and the stitching is strong. This chair is also known as a visitor chair. Cantilever chairs were first developed in this style by Mart Stam in the 1920s and later revived by Matteo Grassi in the 1970s. The Italian manufacturer Matteo Grassi was founded in 1880 as a maker of saddles and riding equipment and has since become a manufacturer of high-quality designer furniture.
