Coffee tables "The 2 potters"

Rare French coffee table from the 1960s made by Les 2 Potiers, the name under which ceramists Michelle and Jacques Serre worked. It consists of a spectacular top formed by two large enamelled lava slabs, resting on a geometric wooden base. The abstract decoration combines light blue, brown, ochre, and yellow tones around a significant circular composition. The variations in texture, the effects of enamel, and the surface irregularities are characteristic of the artisanal work of Les 2 Potiers. Top signed "2 Potiers" in one corner. Les 2 Potiers, active between 1956 and 1970, developed a production of enamelled lava furniture from the early 1960s that is now particularly sought after by enthusiasts of 20th-century French design.
