Description
19th century engraving after a drawing by Victor Hugo in 1863. The writer represents an imaginary castle in the style of fantastic Rhineland castles such as the "gay castle". Signed in the engraving. Dedicated to his friend Paul de St Victor at the bottom right. Format 20 x 28, and dimensions with beveled mat and wooden frame 33 x 43 x 1cm. Modern frame with protective glass and rear attachment system. This castle of shadows and light would come from a dream by Shakespeare linked to the poem "the poet" inserted in the collection of Victor Hugo (1802 - 1895) "contemplations, struggles and dreams". The original work is at the Victor Hugo Museum, 6 Place des Loges in Paris. Packaged weight 2kg.
