A pair of Art Deco period bookends featuring stylised fish resting on a base reminiscent of waves. The sculptures are made of metal with a brown-gold patina. They sit on black veined marble bases, whose natural pattern contrasts harmoniously with the metal's patina. The treatment of the forms is characteristic of the Art Deco aesthetic of the 1930s–1940s, with clean, dynamic, and decorative lines. A functional object and decorative piece, ideal for a bookshelf, desk, or shelf. Very good overall vintage condition. Beautiful original patina on the metal. Marble in good condition, with natural veining and slight signs of age consistent with its years. New felt added under the bases to protect surfaces.
