An iconic aesthetic of postmodernism sculptural and deeply enveloping, these two ambassador armchairs, designed by italian designer giuseppe nicoletti (1942-2016), produced by nicoletti salotti and distributed on the european market under the avanti label, illustrate the italian postmodern vision of the very early 1980s: a design that creates a dialogue between architectural volumes and almost organic cushions. The overall line is read in two gestures: a low, angular shell, treated as a monolithic base, and a generously padded cloud of leather floating above it. Complemented by imposing rear uprights, in the form of inclined pylons, these underline an ultra-wide lounge seat (113 cm) and give the whole a sculptural presence as marked from the front as from the side. In terms of materials, nicoletti uses here a cream full-grain aniline leather - supple, with a very fine grain - mounted on a mixed internal structure (multi-ply panels, steel stiffeners, crossed elastic straps). The cushions are filled with a double-density hr polyurethane foam, completed by a layer of dacron for immediate softness and lasting support. The glides are made of high-density nylon, to protect the floors. Each armchair is stamped with a metal logo plate, a guarantee of authenticity. -- dimensions (cm): 83 (h) X 113 (w) X 94 (d) X 45 (h seat). Origin & period: italy, c. 1980/85 beautiful original condition - natural patina of the leather, some discreet signs of use (mainly concentrated on the contact areas and the back of the armchairs), no structural defects.
