Blue Chair by Jacques Hitier for Tubauto, 1950s, Bakelite-style seat. Tubauto was initially a company specializing in metal fittings for cars, as its name suggests. After World War II, it applied its expertise in bent steel tubing to the manufacture of metal-framed furniture. Jacques Hitier and a few designers, unfortunately now unknown, contributed to this revolution in mid-century interiors by offering innovative, modern, and functional pieces. This Tubauto chair has a minimalist, essential design. The chromed steel tube frame supports seats and backs made of rigid, two-tone blue and black plastic. Dimensions: 38cm wide, 44cm deep, 45cm seat height, and 79cm overall height. The chrome on the legs is damaged, showing signs of wear and rust, as you can see in the photos.
