William IV canapé in carved hardwood with lions

We are delighted to offer for sale this magnificent original William IV sofa from 1830 in flame mahogany, featuring hand-carved armrest panels depicting battling lions, which open to reveal a storage space. A museum-quality piece, likely a custom order for a distinguished gentleman's library or office. The carved panels are handcrafted with functional locks, providing appropriately sized library shelves or storage for glasses and bottles. The condition is mainly perfect with a light patina due to age and use, some colour variations on the side panels, and small marks on the fabric, antique condition 10/10, almost ready for a gallery.
