Let yourself be seduced by the poetry and brilliance of this superb square box signed by the famous Lunelloise ceramist Mithé Espelt (1923-2020). A true icon of French design from the 60s-70s, this piece perfectly illustrates the artist's craftsmanship: an exceptional mastery of colour and gold (often hidden under the glaze), here serving a floral relief decoration. The glazed ceramic lid features a bouquet of hydrangeas in soft pink and white tones, beautifully contrasting with a deep blue background with nuanced reflections. The green leaves add a touch of freshness to this spring-like and sunny composition. Characteristics & Condition. Materials: Glazed ceramic lid, base covered in green felt inside and underneath. Dimensions: * Lid: 15 X 15 cm. Base (box): 13 X 13 cm. Total height: 5 cm. Weight: 770 g. Condition: The ceramic is in very good condition, with vibrant colours and a shiny glaze. The wooden structure shows signs of use and age (small friction marks on the edges), which attest to its authenticity and history. The felt is original. The collector's opinion. A collectible piece that is increasingly sought after. Typical of Mithé Espelt's work, this box does not bear a signature (as was the rule for the artist who wanted her objects to remain accessible), but its style is immediately recognisable. Ideal for adding a "French Riviera" and vintage touch to your dressing table or desk.
