Old xl brass oil lamp

Majestic vintage brass kerosene lamp decorated with classic style ornaments. This superb period lighting consists of a glass fireplace lampshade and a kosmos-type brass spout. Since the 17th century, oil lamps had replaced candles in domestic lighting. It was only from 1853 that the finally liquid oil was born: kerosene, invented by the polish pharmacist ignacy lukaszewicz. This very liquid mineral oil ignited more easily than vegetable or animal oils and gave a much better shine. Immediately, it was used in tank lamps and the kerosene lamp was a symbol of modernity in ancient times.
