For sale is a charming and very elegant heart-shaped candy dish (or trinket dish) made of solid silver. This fine piece of silverware is a magnificent example of the Neo-Rococo style from the late Victorian era or early Edwardian period (circa 1900). The item stands out for its complex and refined craftsmanship: A base and walls entirely pierced in a geometric diamond lattice (pierced work). A wavy and scalloped border, richly adorned with scrolls, tendrils, and stylised heart motifs worked in repoussé relief. A smooth central area in the shape of a heart, revealing a series of three original silver hallmarks stamped into the metal. This highly romantic and delicate piece is ideal on a dressing table, a bedside table as a jewellery holder, or simply displayed in a collector's showcase. Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The silver has retained a superb shiny patina. No deformation, loss, or breakage in the pierced decoration, which is remarkable for such a fine piece. The central hallmarks are slightly faded due to successive cleanings over time (see photos). Weight: 23 grams. Each shipment is prepared with the utmost care.
