Vases attributed to auguste klein decorated with a toad and bee, characters. H12.5 X w9.5 cm. Opening 4 cm. Signature erased, remains an st and other marks. Another vase is for sale on selency. Auguste klein was a famous austrian goldsmith, supplier to the imperial and royal court of vienna. He opened several shops in paris in the late 1860s, including 6, boulevard des capucines, in 1869, which specialized in sales of leather goods and bronzes. He notably worked for wealthy european and russian collectors. Later, elizabeth taylor became a collector of his most beautiful pieces, including a basket that was sold at christie's in 2011 during the dispersal of part of his collection.
