More beautiful than new, restored & strongly designed Dutch Design armchair. Designer: Gijs van der Sluis, a mechanical engineer and self-taught furniture designer, started after World War II making machine parts for the cigar industry in Culemborg. Due to market demand, he also began designing and producing steel chairs. His passion for technology and high quality resulted in successful designs and the company 'van der Sluis stalen meubelen'. Some designs are still produced by his grandchildren. This model, number No. 12, was intended as a low lounge chair, a low-seated, solidly made and comfortable piece of furniture. With its heavy solid steel frame and fine teak armrests, it is a piece that truly exudes quality. The original caps on the legs are still present, ensuring a flat and stable placement on the ground. The frames of these pieces have been completely repainted in high-gloss black, the teak armrests have been fully refinished and given a beautiful semi-matte coating. A completely new filling has also been chosen for the seat and backrest, as well as a beautiful first-class timeless upholstery fabric of the Odense type in beautiful light grey. This fabric has a nice Bouclé effect and is an ode to the fabrics of the 1960s and 1970s. This armchair is exceptionally beautiful, both in design and execution, strong Dutch Design that can be used daily and is also very solid in quality.
