This chest of drawers or window-sash mirror is an exceptional piece, demonstrating the expertise of late 18th-century craftsmen. Made of giltwood, it features a finely carved pine wood frame covered in gilding. The mirror's frame is distinguished by its rich and elaborate decoration, entirely carved with vegetal spirals, typical of the Neoclassical period. A garland of flowers adorns the lower part of the frame, adding an additional touch of refinement. The mirror's dimensions, with a height of 112 cm and a maximum width of 68 cm, make it a respectable piece, suitable for placing above a chest of drawers or between two windows. The mirror itself is a mercury mirror, an ancient and precious technique. This mirror has some missing parts in some places, which is common for pieces from this period. Overall, this giltwood mirror, decorated with finely carved vegetal and floral motifs, is a refined example of late 18th-century decorative art.
