Mari Simmulson is one of the important figures in 20th-century Swedish ceramics. She contributed to the development and renown of the Gustavberg and Upsala-Ekeby factories. The company Upsala Ekeby, initially specialised in the manufacture of bricks and tiles, began artistic production in 1910. Thanks to the talent of several potters and designers, the factory increased its popularity throughout the 20th century.
