Pair of Wall Lights with Floral Basket in Painted Sheet Metal. Italian Work. Circa 19.

Each wall light is organised around a fluted cream-painted metal basket, from which a naturalistic bouquet emerges: sinuous stems, veined green leaves, and small flowers in orange, yellow, and blue, shaped from cut and painted metal. Two light arms with floral stems extend from it, ending in fluted cup-shaped holders that accommodate faux candles with drips. The soft, slightly patinated polychromy adds to the charm of the whole. This virtuoso work of painted floral metal is emblematic of Italian production in the 1950s, inheriting the great tradition of "floral metalwork" from the 18th century, which then supplied decorators with rustic and fresh lighting. Condition: Good overall condition. Original patinated polychromy. A romantic pair, ideal for a bedroom, a charming bathroom, or a country house.
