This superb architectural coffee table is made from Brazilian rosewood (Dalbergia nigra) and features a refined geometric base in solid rosewood paired with a transparent glass top. Brazilian rosewood is a rare and precious hardwood native to Brazil, prized for its beautiful coloration ranging from light brown to dark purple-brown, as well as its distinctive grain. Known for its durability, density, and natural oils that protect it from rot and insects, this wood has been used for centuries to make high-end furniture, musical instruments, and decorative objects. A victim of overexploitation, Brazilian rosewood is now a protected species, subject to strict international trade regulations. Attributed to Branco & Preto, this piece dates from the 1950s.
