Ode to Buffon – Two Antique U&C Sarreguemines Ramekins: A Touch of Naturalist Poetry at the Table… These two antique ramekins in fine earthenware, signed U&C Sarreguemines, delicately bear the "Buffon" model, a graphic and sensitive homage to the famous 18th-century naturalist. The designs are different but complement each other: small, familiar birds, tenderly drawn in a sepia-brown floral design on an ivory background. Each piece is a miniature painting, a silent nature scene captured with the precision and softness of 19th-century lines. The stamp of the pigeon perched on a branch is a rarity in itself, particularly sought after by collectors. Beautiful patina of age, fine cracks in the glaze, and the oval shape typical of late 19th-century services – these pieces tell a story in themselves. Ideal for a country decor, a spring table, or a collection of antique earthenware with a naturalist theme. Stamped U&C Sarreguemines – Buffon model. Circa 1880-1900. Hollow oval shape, sepia brown decoration. Very good vintage condition, a chip under one of the dishes on the edge not visible when the dish is placed, a hairline crack on the other, natural micro-glaze cracks, patina of time. Dimensions: 24 cm long, 12 cm wide and 3.5 cm high.
