Description
Inkwell shell head and fine wood sculpture, war 1914-1918: during the first world war, a large production of inkwells based on ammunition debris was born, both in the trenches and in the rear in the workshops for the rehabilitation of the wounded and mutilated. Competitions were held in 1915 to reward the most beautiful creations. Here is a beautifully carved and rare testimony of these inkwells that were distributed until the end of the 30s in memory of the great war. It incorporates a shell head and its timer (self-timer) graduated in seconds. Missing 2 tiny elements carved with the pattern.
