Vintage silver metal towel ring decorated with laurel decoration

This lovely vintage towel round is silver metal. It is adorned with a frieze of laurels. The towel ring is a traditional gift: once, in wealthy families, the godmother offered a silver object to the child (hence the expression "being born with a silver spoon in the mouth"). The towel ring was one of the everyday silverware and was a safe haven, passed on to the protégé. This present could be accompanied by a cockroach, a spoon or a timpani. The child will keep this present for the rest of his life and use it on a daily basis. The towel ring is offered at important events in life: baptism, communion, marriage, retirement... In good condition, it measures 2.5 cm in height X 4.3 cm in diameter. I report used scratches and traces of oxidation.
