Ivar Ekelund Nacka (1908-2002) Norrfällsviken Fishing Port. Oil painting on wood panel. Frame included. Dimensions: 70 cm X 54 cm approximately with frame. The motif depicts a fishing port with boats and fishermen. Signed by the artist and dated 1955. The artist: studied at Signe Barth's painting school in 1946-1947, at Isaac Grünewald's painting school in Stockholm in 1948, and at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiere in Paris in 1949. He made his debut in an exhibition at the Galerie Moderne in Stockholm in 1948, the same year he held a solo exhibition in östersund. His art consists of still lifes, landscape stylizations, woodcuts, non-figurative paintings, and collages. In the 1940s and 1950s, his work consisted largely of workers' art, as well as zeal for peace, women's rights, and equality. Together with Walter Persson, he was the initiator of Hanöland (Hanöland Art Centre), later öskg (Eastern Scania Artists Group). He opened Galleri Cimbria Simrishamn in 1969. Ekelund is represented at the Modern Museum [1], the Ystad Art Museum, and the Norrköping Art Museum.
