Superb notary's filing cabinet with flaps from the SHANNON brand. Solid mahogany, circa 1900. There is little information on this brand with the Star of David. In England in the 1880s, a brand of trade furniture was found that seemed to stick, but it was in France, at the 1900 exhibition, that we found SHANNON furniture, adorned with this star with the initials AB: A for Albert, B for Bloch, creator of the Shannon Filing Cabinet brand. He quickly joined forces with Felix Wiener, successors. SHANNON offers here a high-end reference in mahogany that opens with a shutter equipped with a superb keyhole indicating: SHANNON FURNITURE. The key works, as does the lock. Once the curtain is raised (it sometimes takes two small jolts, but it works very well), we come across 10 flap drawers that close with addictive little "clacks". Each flap is complete with its original handle and its SHANNON-stamped label holder! As a guarantee of quality, all the locks are stamped. Below, two retractable mahogany shelves offer a temporary workspace. Below, two doors with lock and key open onto a storage space with a shelf mounted on racks, therefore adjustable. The doors are mahogany but of a slightly different shade. It is difficult to say if they are original (we find this model with a horizontal sliding curtain) or if Shannon offered both options. In any case, these are old doors, professionally installed. Signs of wear: superficial scratches (the right side especially, probably more exposed), a small lack at the level of the lock of a drawer (not very annoying), etc. But it remains in very good general condition.
