Paraffin pigeon lamp, late 19th century, brass & copper

Pretty flea market piece for retro and authentic decor as it is sold without a wick. The pigeon lamp (named after its inventor Charles Pigeon) is an oil lamp from the late 1800s, early 1900s. Beautiful text engraved on the front and on the small wheel which raises the wick. A handle on the side allows it to be held in hand, it could also be suspended. The story goes that the manufacturer reimbursed 10,000 francs at the time, or around €40,000 today. Anyone who manages to make the lamp explode (this inscription is engraved on the handle). The brass should be cleaned or left as is in its juice, it's up to you! Measurements: height including glass 23 cm without glass 17 cm (in inches 8.97" or 6.63" without glass) diameter of base 7 cm in inches 2.73" weight 252 grams.
