The HSG Ząbkowice decorative cake stand is an example of Polish pressed glass from the 1970s, maintained in the Art Deco style, though with motifs popular just after the war. The form is based on a proportional plate with a raised centre and a slightly flared stem. The delicate, transparent light green glass is highlighted by a radiating pressed pattern – lines run from the centre to the edge, also flowing around the base, creating a harmonious continuity of decoration. The edge of the bowl is wavy, with subtle bevels and a noticeable groove. The glass is finished to a high gloss, so the surface reflects light, and local air bubbles and small irregularities confirm the characteristic manufacturing technique. The construction ensures stability – the widened base distributes the weight well. Condition is very good: no visible damage, no signs of restoration, original patina. This item could tell the story of the Polish home table from the mid-20th century – a testament to changing tastes and openness to new trends. The green, shiny glass reflected light in interiors decorated in the spirit of post-war modernism, and the geometric decor referred to the dream of an orderly, elegant world. Each line of the pattern and the delicate waviness of the edge is like a silent dialogue of the era, in which – even in everyday dishes – harmony was sought between decoration and utility. The cake stand can be displayed on a wooden sideboard or in a showcase with other vintage glassware. It goes well with both minimalist, light surfaces and dark veneer or a collection of 1960s ceramics. It can be combined with geometric cake stands or crystal goblets, enhancing the retro accent in mid-century modern arrangements or contemporary spaces enlivened by greenery and noble glass.
