Pitcher in Sandstone of Denbac

Sandstone pitcher decorated with pellets and grooves on the rump. It is coated with a glossy black glaze with matte gray drips. It is signed under the base with the stamp "denbac" and the model number "356". Denbac is the brand of the ceramics manufacture denert and balichon in vierzon, born from the association between the ceramist rené denert (1872-1937) and the manager rené louis balichon (1885-1949). The period of production of decorative and advertising stoneware under the denbac brand began in 1921 and collapsed after the death of rené denert in 1937, until the definitive closure of the company in 1952.
