Villeroy & Boch 1562 Old Strasbourg Milk Jug and Sugar Bowl

Fine earthenware milk jug and covered sugar bowl by villeroy & boch mettlach, model 1562 vieux strasbourg / alt strassburg. Stamped (green stamp) "villeroy & boch / mettlach / made in france-saar economic union / 1562". Villeroy & boch reissued this model in the 1980s (brown stamp); these are pieces from the original series produced in the 1950s. Printed floral decoration (blooming roses, tulips, forget-me-nots, etc.) on an ivory background, empire green lines. No accidents, except for a small chip on the back of the sugar bowl lid (see the detail photo); very shiny enamel and bright colors. Dimensions: sugar bowl / height 11 cm (at the fretel); milk jug / volume 450 ml.
