This ancient basket rye, called a bourgeoisie, is typical of the charentais country. A former woven straw pantry, this grain-filled basket was used to store fruits and other everyday foods such as eggs. This spiral basket, with spires of grain straw sewn by strands of bramble in splints, was woven by hand. It is a beautiful object of popular art to hijack... Or not... Because it is simply...
