This is a rare 19th century barbotine, signed Gustave de Bruyn (1838-1916), from the earthenware factory located in Fives, which was a suburb of Lille in France at the time. Both pieces, the pot and the matching saucer are marked. Very good general condition, no major damage or cracks. However, it should be noted that the barbotine, being very old, shows signs of wear, particularly at the top of the reliefs, which have been the most exposed to friction over time. Thus, the enamel is missing in many places, which however gives this exceptional piece a crazy charm. Two enamel jumps also under the rim of the saucer, visible in the detail photos. Very pretty theme typical of the Napoleon 3 era, vegetal, sober and graceful, on a background evoking split bamboos, and with a beautiful monochrome green enamel very lively it is preferable not to subject this type of slip to the rigors of winter, which could be fatal to it, and to retain its use exclusively for indoors. The pot is pierced with a hole. Beautiful very generous format. The dimensions given in the advertisement are those of the pot, the saucer measures 24.5 cm in diameter and is very flat.
