Superb pair of antique candlesticks of the torch type in solid brass, dating from the late 19th century (Victorian/Napoleon III era). These pieces are distinguished by their ingenious side sliding push mechanism, original and fully functional. This clever system allowed the candle to be easily raised as it burned down or to eject wax residue. They rest on an elegant moulded circular base that ensures excellent stability. The cylindrical shaft is highlighted by clean lines and beaded decorations at the base. Featuring a magnificent authentic golden patina acquired over time, they are sold "as is" (not polished) to preserve all the charm of their history. They show some signs of oxidation and wear; these marks due to their great age are clearly visible in the photos and contribute to the historical and authentic character of these objects. A beautiful set of antique decoration, ideal for enhancing a table, fireplace, or console in a chic flea market atmosphere. Dimensions: Height: 19 cm Base diameter: 9 cm Weight (the pair): 830 g.
