Oil Painting by Victor Isbrand (1897-1989) Urban Landscape - Paris

This is a superb framed 1950s oil on canvas urban (Parisien) landscape by the celebrated Danish artist Victor Isbrand. It is signed V. ISBRAND in the bottom left corner of the canvas. Isbrand was born in 1897 and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1913-1917. His work can clearly be seen to have been inspired by the cubist movement, though he perhaps more accurately referred to as a post-impressionist. His sometimes bleak urban landscapes are particularly sought after and he painted in both Paris and the South of France. Isbrand died in 1989. He has a permanent collection at the Kunsten Museum of Modern Art in Aalborg. The painting dimensions are: 85cm X 55cm x2cm. (unframed) 76cm X 64cm X 3cm. (framed).
