Dal Torrione: Important fireplace surround – Atlantes and female figures – Neo-Renaissance style Spectacular fireplace surround in richly sculpted plaster, currently covered with a bluish-white paint, featuring a remarkable figurative decoration in the Renaissance style. The two uprights are adorned with powerful male atlantes in full figure, depicted supporting the upper part of the fireplace. They rest on scroll consoles and offer particularly expressive sculpture. The upper crosspiece, with a dynamic shape, features a central medallion sculpted with a reclining female figure, surrounded by scrolls, shells, and leafy ornaments. The ends are decorated with sculpted female heads in high relief, completing this very theatrical composition. The whole is crowned with a moulded shelf following the movements of the façade. A stamped mark (dal torrione, recognised artist) is noticeable on the side, visible in the photographs. A very beautiful decorative piece, ideal for the creation or restoration of a fireplace in a characterful interior. Period: 20th century, in the neo-Renaissance style. Material: sculpted and painted plaster. Decoration: atlantes, female figures, shells, flowers, foliage, and scrolls. Condition: used condition, later paint with wear and small losses. Note: presence of the stamped mark on the side. h 102 x w 128 x d 33 Lorenzo dal Torrione (sometimes spelled Lorrenzo dal Torrione) is a 20th-century Italian sculptor.
