A delightful set of 11 antique earthenware plates with a pretty ochre and blue floral design, NYSETTE pattern by Hippolyte Boulenger & Cie (H.B.C.), dating from the early 20th century, between 1898 and 1920. 6 dinner plates. 5 soup plates. Diameter 22 cm. The H.B.C. Mark The name "Société Hippolyte Boulenger et Compagnie" was adopted in 1878. Although the factory existed until 1938, the specific brand H.B. & C. (or HBC) is strongly associated with the period when the factory was thriving and before its acquisition by Creil-Montereau in 1920. The highly stylized floral motif and the use of vibrant colors (cobalt blue and ochre/mustard yellow) are characteristic of tableware production at the end of the Art Nouveau period and the beginning of the 20th century (1900-1920).
