Over time, it was decided to expand production and so the company also produced traditional european glassware from 1835 onwards. Orla juul nielsen was appointed as the company's first permanent employee and, in collaboration with royal copenhagen, designed glasses for various tableware sets. The emphasis was on aesthetics and simple designs. In 1924, jacob bang joined the company and was appointed artistic director in 1928. His focus was on rational designs that were intended to be industrially produced. Nevertheless, he made sure that the designs showed a little emotion. Bang was an advocate of democratic design, where the products should be available and affordable for everyone. However, he also produced exclusive objects with art deco decorations. In 1942, per lutken succeeded him as director. According to him, products should be used in everyday life and therefore have a functional character. Holmegaard combines the traditional simplicity of danish design with new experimental forms. When shipping, the item is carefully packed to prevent damage.
