Set of 4 'Plia' dining chairs by Giancarlo Piretti

Set of 4 vintage dining chairs, model 'Plia', designed by Giancarlo Piretti and produced by Anonima Castelli in Italy since the late 1960s. When the Plia chair was introduced at the 1967 Fiera del Mobile in Milan, it was presented as 'the symbol of a new era focused on plastic'. The chair was featured in MoMA's 1970s Radical Furniture exhibition, cementing its reputation as a leading example of democratic design. Two of the cream-coloured skai backrests have small nicks and the fabric under the seats shows some discolouration. The chrome legs and seats are otherwise in very good condition. There is also a set of 4 in straw and chrome available.
