Square table in blond wenge wood, bronze feet. Edition 2001 signed by Louis Cane. In generally good condition. About LOUIS CANE Born on 13 December 1943 in Beaulieu-sur-Mer (Alpes-Maritimes) and passed away in Paris on 4 November 2024, Louis Cane studied at the Decorative Arts School in Nice, then at the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris, where he obtained a diploma in interior architecture, specialising in fresco, around 1964. From 1967–1968, he created stamped canvases bearing the mention "LOUIS CANE ARTISTE PEINTRE" and collages, exploring notions of artistic identity and abstraction. In the 1980s, he explored expressive figurative themes: nudes, childbirths, Annunciations, Le Déjeuner sur l’herbe, the Ménines… He also approached sculpture and furniture design, disciplines linked to his initial training, producing baroque and conceptual works. Internationally recognised (exhibitions in New York, Montreal, Pompidou…), he remained discreet despite the significance of his work.
