The painting highlights the southern architecture and its vegetation, featuring palm trees. The vendors shelter from the sun under their colorful parasols. The Swiss-born painter signed his canvas in the lower left corner, K. W. Grether, and dated it 1948. The wooden stretcher on the back bears the stamp of the artist, who had a gallery in Basel. The stamp of the stretcher maker, Robert Rebetez, is also present. Good vintage condition, with a small dent near the two baskets at the bottom. Dimensions: 46 cm x 38 cm, thickness 1.5 cm.
