Wheeled service design kin france. In the taste of joe colombo's boby service, circa 1970. 42x42cm. Height 52cm. Top painted orange. The rest is originally made of yellow plastic. Traces of wear, especially on the lower tray (see photos) —- A bit of history! It was in 1909 that the american chemist leo baekland synthesized the first thermosetting plastic, bakelite. Plastic was first used for the realization of small objects. American engineer and inventor earl c. Tupper (1907–1983) developed the first poliethylene containers with hermetic lids in 1946. Yes... The famous... Tupperware! In the 50s, the chemistry of plastics made such progress that it became possible to manufacture larger parts, such as seats. The first chair without any assembly was developed by danish designer verner panton. Plastic has become ubiquitous in our environment. Since 1985 its production has exceeded that of metals in volume. Its recycling is now a crucial issue.
