Magnificent oil on panel by Rodolfo Marma (1923-1998), Nuns in Piazza Santo Spirito. Dimensions: 30 X 20 cm - frame: 45 X 36 cm. Rodolfo Marma was born in 1923 in the Santa Croce district of Florence, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Ugo Capocchini, graduating in 1948. At the same time, he attended Emanuele Cavalli's studio. In 1954, Marisa, the beloved only daughter of Rodolfo Marma and Geraldine, was born in Florence. From 1956 to 1958, he lived and worked in New York, where he returned several times. His correspondence from those years spent in America, which reflects his love and nostalgia for his hometown, as well as the letters he exchanged with his friends Vasco Pratolini, Primo Conti, and his young daughter, are particularly noteworthy. In the United States, "the generous land of the Americas, " a day was dedicated to him in 1965, the "Marma Day, " while between 1967 and 1972, he mainly focused on his exhibitions in Florence. Marma was also a reader and illustrator, notably for works such as *Il giardino del cavaliere* by Mario Mattolini (Mori, Florence, 1963) and *Quando Firenze era capitale* (When Florence was capital) by Marcello Vannucci (Bonechi, 1970).
