Art Noveau Floral Motif Bowl by Agda Österberg, St. Erik Lervarufabriker, 1910s

An exceptional Art Nouveau ceramic bowl designed by Agda Österberg and produced at the renowned St. Erik Lervarufabriker in Uppsala, Sweden, circa 1910–1920. This exquisite piece exemplifies the elegance and organic grace of early 20th-century Scandinavian Art Nouveau design. The bowl features a delicately painted floral motif composed of alternating three conical vases filled with tulip bouquets and three rounded vases with fuller, more expressive arrangements, rendered in shades of blue, green, and warm brown. The glossy surface glaze enhances the vibrancy of the hand-painted design while adding depth and luminosity. A soft beige background glaze provides a refined contrast, allowing the floral imagery to stand out with subtle sophistication. Measuring approximately 14 cm in height, the vessel’s balanced proportions and flowing contours capture the naturalistic inspiration characteristic of the Art Nouveau period. The bowl is in good condition with wear consistent with age and use, including three small marks from the production process where the bowl rested on its support during glazing, leaving a few subtle unglazed spots on the underside.
