A 1940s/50s Salins-les-Bains earthenware tureen: a hand-painted design of stylized birds in bold colors—green, yellow, and brown—and a rim highlighted by a burgundy line that accentuates the piece's gentle lines. The slightly ivory-colored clay, adorned with a lovely network of antique crackles, testifies to its authenticity. The crackle visible on the interior is typical of antique earthenware, resulting from the natural aging of the glaze. The handles and the lid's handle emphasize the Art Deco style. Stamped SALINS France. In good condition, still very shiny. Patina and slight wear consistent with age. A small chip on the rim, see photos. Diameter 22 cm, height 12 cm, depth 7 cm. A quintessential example of mid-century French craftsmanship, perfectly in line with the elegant neo-rustic trend.
