Scandinavian mid-century extra large oak bookcase by Nordiska Kompaniet, Sweden, 1964

This Scandinavian mid-century extra-large oak bookcase was produced by Nordiska Kompaniet in 1964 and designed by Ingvar Sandström in Sweden. NK has been Stockholm’s most luxurious department store since 1915. The bookcase is fully modular and can be divided into smaller sections for use in separate rooms. The overall dimensions are H: 207 cm, W: 313 cm, D: 42 cm. The bookcase, model Triva, consists of three independent sections that can be used together or separately. Crafted from oak, it features a warm, light golden natural tone and visible grain, contrasted by darker caning on the doors. The upper section is open with many shelves, ideal for books, ceramics, or decorative objects, while the lower section is enclosed with inner shelves for concealed storage. This piece is perfect for a living room or office. It is in great vintage condition, treated with professional compounds, and shows only minor signs of age. It bears the original Nordiska Kompaniet label and stamp on the back, dated 16.9.1964, confirming its authenticity and origin.
