Pair of small commodes or bedside tables from the Italian neoclassical period (Louis XVI style), adorned with a rich decor of marquetry and geometric panels. Style and period: Louis XVI/neoclassical style, generally made in Italy (following the tradition of master cabinetmakers such as Giuseppe Maggiolini), dating from the late 18th/early 19th century. • Materials: Veneered and inlaid with contrasting woods. • Design: tapered pyramid legs, a geometric diamond pattern, and central marquetry panels depicting musical instruments on the drawer fronts and sides. Top made of polychrome breccia marble composed of three pieces. The photos show each commode in detail. Small piece of beautiful quality and solid but value diminished by defects and signs of wear on the marquetry in several places (see photos). The drawers close with a small key, not available. Subsequently, a small gilded brass handle was fixed to each drawer (not visible in photos but available and can be easily reattached). Weight: approximately 25 kg each commode.
