Superb GUL vase made by Otto Brauer for Holmegaard (Denmark). This blown glass vase was designed by Otto Brauer for Holmegaard in 1970. It is an emblematic model of Danish design, recognisable by its slender silhouette and narrow neck. It is presented here in its turquoise blue version with a white interior. This model is highly sought after by collectors. Very beautiful glass shine. Piece in very good condition. Height: approximately 255 mm. Body diameter: approximately 95 mm. Neck height: 110 mm. Neck diameter: 65 mm. Collar diameter: approximately 65 mm. ---------------- Otto Brauer (1911–1984) began his career in the Danish glass industry at just 14 years old. He is now best known for his "Gulvvase" (floor vase) series for Holmegaard. Designed in 1962, these vases feature bottle shapes, pop colours, and joyful expressions. They are available in five sizes: 26 cm (10.2 in), 31 cm (12.2 in), 38 cm (15.0 in), 45 cm (17.7 in), and 52 cm (20.5 in). In the early years, the bottles were only available in solid glass: olive green, brown, dark blue, and white. In 1970, they were launched with a white inner layer and a coloured outer layer: red, ruby red, turquoise, green, olive green, and yellow. Today, these vases are often adorned with a contrasting coloured ball. These balls were actually designed by Michael Bang but made in the same glassworks as the bottles.
