Roger Capron, orangeade service "Valaque"

Service for orangeade "Valaque" by Roger Capron, circa 1955. A jug and 6 cups in polychrome glazed ceramic with hand-painted decoration under glaze. The decor, dominated by ivory, orange-red, yellow, turquoise blue, and black tones, features stylised figures on a light background, with marked outlines. The jug has a curved body, a flared neck, and a side handle; the cups are truncated conical and slightly flared. This series, emblematic of Capron's early work in Vallauris, illustrates his interest in popular traditions and the revival of decorative arts after the war. Complete sets from this series are rare on the market.
