Important lamp composed of a bottle-shaped ceramic vase with a bright turquoise glaze, finely crackled, and with incised decoration under the glaze inspired by Chinese motifs. At the neck, a frieze of lotus leaves with hatching. At the shoulder, a band of ruyi clouds. On the body, large clusters of grapes with their vine leaves and tendrils. At the base, a frieze of stylised lotus petals. The vase is mounted as a lamp with a patinated bronze collar, a brass rod with a ball finish, and a carved hardwood base in Chinese style, on three feet. The lamp has been rewired: it features a braided fabric cable, a recent switch, and plug, making it ready for use. The decoration, the quality of the glaze, and the finesse of the incisions evoke the Chinese-inspired faience of Théodore Deck (France, second half of the 19th century), famous for his "Deck blue." I do not guarantee the attribution: I do not see any printed mark, and the underside of the base only bears two crossed red lines, drawn by hand. This piece should be appraised if you wish for a certain attribution. It fits well in both a classic interior with antique furniture and as a splash of colour in a contemporary decor. Overall excellent condition for its age. Bright glaze with fine original crackling. The base has been drilled for the cable during electrification. The wooden base shows a beautiful patina from use. New lampshade.
