Cassina Topkapi daybed, Francesco Binfaré, ecru fabric, first hand 2001

Méridienne Topkapi designed by Francesco Binfaré for Cassina, purchased new from Cassina in 2001 (original invoice available). This is not just a simple méridienne but a hybrid piece of furniture combining a lounge chair, a chaise longue, and a small modular sofa. The concept is based on pivoting elements that allow for the adjustment of the backrest and armrest according to use. An iconic piece of Italian design: enveloping volumes, seating in two modules, adjustable cushion backrest, round black cushion contrasting with the ecru fabric, structure in light grey lacquered steel tubes. Mounted on wheels, it moves easily. Deep seating allows for lying down as well as a very comfortable reading or relaxation position. The condition is excellent. In particular, the fabric is original, without stains, halos, or yellowing. The seams are tight and even. No sagging of the seats. Furniture "exposed" but unused.
