Overview. First-class Parisian Art Deco sideboard dated to 1925. Large, low-profile piece with a strong vertical rhythm and pronounced curved end cabinets. Design. Concave fluted and cambered convex doors that fold out widely; symmetrical front with a recessed central section flanked by bowed end cabinets. Distinctive banding of darker rosewood strips frames the figured amboyna-root veneer. Materials. Main surfaces veneered in highly figured amboyna root; contrasting rosewood (palisander) banding; oak-lined interior compartments; original marble top; glass, mirror and chrome-plated metal fittings. Features. Central glass bar compartment with mirrored interior and a single glass shelf. Several chrome metal fittings and subtle door pulls; underside of the marble bears an emblem of an historic Paris "Garde meuble". Origin. Made in France, Paris — produced circa 1925, part of the 1920s Art Deco movement. Dimensions. Overall dimensions: 245 cm (W) X 65 cm (D) X 98 cm (H).
