Superb and original large jug in white earthenware (tin-glazed pottery), probably of French origin, dating from the 19th century. The highlight of this piece is its spout sculpted in the form of a particularly expressive satyr's head: curled horns, a bushy beard, and a mischievous expression that give it a unique character full of personality. The arched handle is adorned with moulded details, the lid is original with its grip knob, and the whole rests on a foot with a scalloped edge. The glaze shows beautiful regular and homogeneous crazing, typical of antique earthenware, which adds to the patina and charm of the object. Height: 38 cm. Width with spout: 23 cm. Width of the body: 16 cm. Very good condition for its age. The crazing is aesthetic and does not compromise its solidity. Minimal wear consistent with age on the edges and foot (small losses at the scalloped edge). No significant chips, no cracks, no restoration. The lid fits perfectly. This jug is both decorative and functional. It will make a magnificent collectible item or a striking piece in a French country, antique, or eclectic interior. Perfect as a standalone decoration on a console, fireplace, or shelf, or to hold a bouquet of dried flowers.
