Vintage Sofa 'Octopus', upholstered by Carine Boxy, Belgium, 2024

Textile designer Carine Boxy creates unique carpets and furniture objects from animal skins. Her work has a magnetic attraction; when people see her creations, they can't help but touch them. Carine is inspired by landscapes when choosing the seams, animal skins, and dyes for her creations. She uses animal skins from Great Britain, Australia, Ireland, and Tuscany, fitting them together like puzzle pieces. Once satisfied with the patchwork's shape and size, she sews everything together by hand. The base of this sofa is a vintage couch that belonged to Carine's mother. Carine draped and created a fur coat (sheep/cow) for her beloved sofa. This 'Octopus' sofa was featured at the Milan design fair 2024.
