Very beautiful large water jug, gargoulette or walnut oil jug, turned stoneware, French craftsmanship from Puisaye at the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, featuring a generous shape with three handles and a small spout. Ash glaze with light khaki green hues flowing over a light grey stoneware background, traditional production in a wood-fired kiln, with a finish similar to some Japanese stoneware of the Iga type. Mark X incised under the base. Maximum height to the upper handle 34cm, maximum width at the handles 23cm, maximum diameter approximately 19cm. Very good overall condition considering its age, with a slight nibbling at the spout, an old hairline inside with slight external visibility over about 10 cm without fragility, as well as small discreet losses of glaze at the base. Presence of four stamps underneath, recent additions.
